Types of Secret stones
■Blue Diamonds(*1)
In Europe, there's a charming tradition known as "Something Blue," which suggests that a bride who wears something blue on her wedding day will enjoy a lifetime of happiness. In honor of this tradition, we offer blue diamonds as an option for secret gemstones. These diamonds are treated to achieve a vibrant blue color that symbolizes good fortune and joy.

■Birthstones
Birthstones, also known as guardian stones, are believed to bring protection and happiness to those who wear them, especially if they correspond to the wearer's birth month. It's popular to choose your own birthstone, the birthstone of a loved one, or a stone that represents a significant anniversary. If the ring design accommodates two stones, it is a beautiful gesture to place the birthstones of both partners side by side. This makes the ring truly unique and personal, imbuing it with your cherished thoughts and memories as it rests against your skin.
We encourage you to select a stone that holds special meaning to you.

*1: Blue diamonds are artificially treated to achieve their bright blue color.
*Since all secret stones are natural stones and undergo artificial treatments, the color of each gemstone may vary slightly.

Can I Specify the Position of the Secret Stone?

For certain designs, you can specify the position of the secret stone.
This can be done within the engraved message on the inside of the ring. Please be aware that specifying the position of each secret stone counts as one character out of the total number of characters allowed for engraving.

[Rings Eligible for Specified Stone Positioning]
Passage of Time, Mango Tree, Calm (*1), Touch, Soulmates (*2), Weave, Moon song, Sign
*Note 1: "Calm" can only be specify the positioned if the setting of the secret stone is one stone.
*Note 2: The standard Soulmates Diamond attached to the "Soulmates" ring can also be positioned within the engraving if placed on the inner side.

How to Request the Stone Position
When placing your order, you can specify the stone positioning in the following way:

■If you place your order through the online store:
Please indicate your request for setting position in the remarks column on the order page.

■When ordering at handling stores:
Please discuss your specific requests for the position of the stone with a store staff directly.

*Important: If you contact us to change the stone positioning after the day following your order, additional charges may apply for re-fastening or re-engraving, depending on the production status. Please be aware of this policy when placing your order.

What is a Soulmates® Diamond?

YUKA HOJO refers to two diamonds derived from a single rough diamond as Soulmates Diamond.
A rough diamond, formed over hundreds of millions of years deep within the Earth, typically yields multiple diamonds, each cut based on size and quality criteria. These diamonds then make their way to different parts of the world as individual gems.
Soulmates Diamonds, however, are two diamonds cut from the same rough diamond that remain together from their time of cutting until they reach us.

The “Soulmates” wedding ring uniquely showcases a pair of Soulmates Diamonds, set to reflect the shared tenderness between them.
Additionally, the "Passage of Time(other than SS width)" and "Moon Song" wedding rings offer the option to include a Soulmates Diamond for an additional fee.
For more details, click [here].

Soulmates Diamond has traveled through time for hundreds of millions of years.
We hope that the Soulmates Diamond will continue to be a cherished part of your life forever, symbolizing an everlasting bond.

Certification and Quality:
*Each Soulmates Diamond comes with a certification card, which includes a photograph of the original rough diamond, verifying that both diamonds were cut from the same rough.
*Only diamonds exhibiting the “H&C (Heart & Cupid)” pattern—indicative of a superior cut and visible only under a special scope—are selected for Soulmates Diamonds.
(Note: The H&C image on the certification card is for illustration purposes only.)

About Diamonds in Engagement Rings

What are the 4Cs of diamonds?

The 4Cs are the international standards for evaluating diamond quality. The name comes from the initials of four criteria: Carat (weight), Color (color), Clarity (clarity), and Cut (brilliance).

1. Carat (Weight)

The carat (ct) is the unit of weight for diamonds. One carat equals 0.2 grams. As the carat weight increases, the diamond’s size and visual presence also increase proportionally.
YUKA HOJO offers seven types of center stones for engagement rings: 0.15ct, 0.18ct, 0.2ct, 0.25ct, 0.3ct,0.4ct, and 0.5ct.
*The illustration provided is for reference only and is not the actual size.
*Please refer to the diamond diameter (mm) as a general guide.
*The carat weight options vary by design. Please check the product page for specific details.
*The actual carat weight may vary slightly between pieces. We will select a diamond within the specified range, ensuring it meets or exceeds the selected carat weight. However, we are unable to accept detailed specifications within this range. Please understand this in advance.

0.15ct : 0.150ct~
0.18ct : 0.180ct~
0.2ct : 0.200ct~
0.25ct : 0.250ct~
0.3ct : 0.300ct~
0.4ct : 0.400ct~
0.5ct : 0.500ct~

2. Color

The color of a diamond refers to its natural hue.
Diamonds are graded on a 23-level scale, from D (completely clear and colorless) to Z (yellowish). The closer the diamond is to Z, the more noticeable the yellow tint becomes.
The center stones for YUKA HOJO's engagement rings are beautifully colored diamonds graded between D and G.
*Note: The available color and clarity options depend on the carat weight.

3. Clarity

The clarity of a diamond measures the presence and location of inclusions and blemishes, assessed under 10x magnification. Diamonds are classified into 11 grades, ranging from FL (Flawless) to I3 (Included).
The center stones in YUKA HOJO's engagement rings are high-quality diamonds graded from VVS1 to SI1.
*Note: The available color and clarity options vary depending on the carat weight.
Most diamonds, formed deep within the earth over many years, contain inclusions and slight flaws. These characteristics are signs of their natural origin and unique character.

-FL (Flawless):
Completely free of inclusions or blemishes, both internally and externally.
This is the highest clarity grade and is extremely rare in the general market.

-IF (Internally Flawless):
No inclusions or blemishes are visible even under 10x magnification by a skilled craftsman. Considered a grade of exceptional quality.

-VVS1 (Very Very Slightly Included 1):
Contains very few inclusions or blemishes, almost imperceptible under 10x magnification. A high-quality grade, with flaws that are challenging for even skilled craftsmen to detect.

-VVS2 (Very Very Slightly Included 2):
Contains very slight inclusions or blemishes, slightly more noticeable than VVS1. Difficult to detect even under 10x magnification by a skilled craftsman. A superior grade among market-available diamonds.

-VS1 (Very Slightly Included 1):
Contains very minor inclusions or blemishes.
Even under 10x magnification, it is challenging for a skilled craftsman to detect inclusions. The inclusions are minute and insignificant, maintaining the diamond's high quality. To the general public, the appearance is comparable to that of diamonds in the highest quality grades.

-VS2 (Very Slightly Included 2):
Contains very minor inclusions or blemishes.
Inclusions are difficult for the average person to see, even under 10x magnification. Skilled craftsmen can identify inclusions more easily with magnification, but they remain minor. An excellent quality grade.

-SI1 (Slightly Included 1):
Contains a few easily identifiable inclusions or blemishes.
Skilled craftsmen can readily detect inclusions under 10x magnification. However, it remains difficult for the average person to notice inclusions, even with magnification. Still a high-quality grade.
SI2 (Slightly Included 2), I1, I2, I3 (Included):
These grades indicate increasing visibility of inclusions and blemishes, which become progressively easier to detect as the grade lowers.

4. Cut (Brilliance)

The cut is the only aspect of a natural diamond's quality that is influenced by human skill. It is a crucial factor in determining the diamond's brilliance and beauty.
Cut Evaluation:
The cut is assessed based on three criteria:
-Proportion: The overall balance of the diamond's dimensions.
-Polish: The quality of the diamond's surface finish.
-Symmetry: The alignment and harmony of the diamond's facets.

A diamond rated “Excellent” in all three criteria is classified as “3Excellent” (also known as “3EX” or triple excellent), representing the highest standard of brilliance.
YUKA HOJO Engagement Rings:
The center stones in YUKA HOJO engagement rings are all 3EX, using only H&C (Heart & Cupid) diamonds. These diamonds exhibit exceptionally high symmetry, efficiently reflect light, and radiate stunning brilliance.
*H&C (Heart & Cupid) is not part of the 4C grading system but indicates superior symmetry and brilliance.
For more information, please refer to “Q. What is H&C (Heart & Cupid) in diamonds?” below.

What is H&C (Heart & Cupid) in diamonds?
Can I upgrade the diamonds in my engagement ring or wedding ring to H&C?

H&C (Heart & Cupid) refers to a diamond cut that, when viewed through a special scope, displays eight hearts on the pavilion side (back) and eight arrows on the crown side (front).
The eight hearts and eight arrows only appear in diamonds cut with exceptionally good symmetry and are recognized as "H&C" when they meet strict criteria.
This pattern, resembling Cupid releasing an arrow to catch a heart, adds a romantic touch. The love story encapsulated within each small diamond makes it a favored cut for bridal rings.

At YUKA HOJO:
-All engagement ring center stones are H&C diamonds as standard.
-You can also upgrade the side stones of engagement rings and surface diamonds on wedding rings to H&C as a paid option.
*Note: A special scope for viewing H&C patterns is not included.

What grades of diamonds are available?

Diamonds are evaluated using the international 4C standard (Carat, Color, Clarity, Cut). For more details, refer to “Q. What are the 4Cs of diamonds?”
YUKA HOJO engagement ring center stones are available in the following grades, depending on the carat weight.

What should I focus on when choosing the diamond grade for my engagement ring?

At YUKA HOJO, all engagement rings prioritize brilliance, with only the highest quality diamonds set as the center stone. Each diamond features a 3EX H&C cut grade, ensuring exceptional beauty and sparkle.
About 3EX H&C:
-Rated 3Excellent (3EX) in the three cut evaluation categories: proportion (overall balance), polish, and symmetry.
-The H&C (Heart & Cupid) pattern, visible through a special scope, highlights the diamond’s superior symmetry and brilliance.

Regardless of the grade you choose, all YUKA HOJO diamonds are guaranteed to shine beautifully. We recommend selecting the diamond grade that aligns with your personal preferences and comfort.

The Origin of Diamonds:
Billions of years ago, diamonds were formed deep within the Earth's crust under immense heat and pressure. These rough diamonds were later brought to the surface by rapid volcanic eruptions, propelled by magma at high speeds. Diamonds are often referred to as “gifts from the Earth” due to their unmatched hardness and the radiant luster revealed through skilled polishing.

Natural Uniqueness:
Natural diamonds, like human beings, possess their own unique traits.
For instance, diamonds with a clarity grade of SI1 may have inclusions visible to the naked eye. These inclusions are not flaws but marks of their natural origin and individuality.
By chance or fate, we encounter diamonds that are irreplaceable gifts from the Earth. We hope you will embrace and appreciate their one-of-a-kind beauty.

What are conflict-free diamonds?
Are the diamonds you use conflict-free?

Conflict-free diamonds are those sourced from areas free of conflict and purchased through proper distribution channels. Japan is a signatory to the Kimberley Process, an international agreement that ensures rough diamonds are sourced only from non-conflict areas.
Additionally, Japan has adopted the System of Warranties, which verifies that every stage of the diamond's journey—from rough stone to polished gem, distribution, and retail—is conflict-free.
All diamonds handled by YUKA HOJO comply with the Kimberley Process and the System of Warranties, ensuring they are confirmed to be conflict-free.

Do you provide a grading report?

Yes, all engagement ring center diamonds come with a grading report issued by the Central Gemological Laboratory (CGL).
CGL is a member of the Association of Gemological Laboratories (AGL) and is one of the largest issuers of grading reports in the world among AGL member laboratories.

Will the diamond carat weight be imprinted on the inside of the ring?

A: Yes, the carat weight of the engagement ring's center stone and the diamond carats of the "bloom" will be engraved on the inside of the ring.

Half Eternity Ring "Bloom": This versatile ring serves as a fashion ring, an important keepsake, or for daily wear. It is particularly popular as a 10th-anniversary gift, featuring 10 diamonds that symbolize happy buds.
Carry your love Necklace (Online Only): This necklace features an engravable plate where you can inscribe the name of a loved one or a special message. It's an ideal choice for celebrating significant milestones, whether as a personal reward or for occasions like baby showers.

What care should I take at home for my engagement and wedding rings?

Engagement and wedding rings are in direct contact with your skin, making it essential to keep them clean. To care for your ring at home, start by preparing warm water mixed with a neutral detergent. Use a soft bristle brush to gently remove dirt from both the surface and inside of the ring. Afterward, rinse the ring with water and dry it using a soft cloth.
Be cautious during rinsing, as the detergent can make the ring slippery, increasing the risk of it slipping from your hands.

How should I store the ring?

To avoid damaging your ring, we recommend storing it in the paulownia wood box provided at delivery or in your jewelry box.
It's advisable to keep your jewelry separate from other items in the jewelry box to prevent scratches caused by contact with other pieces.
Additionally, ensure that your jewelry is stored in a location where small children cannot access it to prevent accidental swallowing.

Can I get a case to put my ring in?

At the time of delivery, each ordered ring will be placed in a paulownia wood box (ring case). We provide one case for an engagement ring and one case for a pair of wedding rings.
If you order a single wedding ring, we will also provide one case for it.

I have lost my ring, can I purchase an identical one?

We're sorry to hear about your loss. If you lose your ring, we can create a new one from scratch. Please place a new order either at your local handling store or through our online store.
